<description>Bryan makes a great point about how journalists are no longer the gatekeepers. Marketers and PR professionals must now not only write for journalists, but also the average consumer who has access to the same information journalists do on the Web.

Regarding press releases, PR pros must now consider making them more Web- and social media-friendly. One great, free online tool offered by Internet marketing company, HubSpot, is Press Release Grader (http://pressrelease.grader.com). It evaluates the marketing effectiveness of a release and offers suggestions on how to improve it from an Internet marketing/SEO perspective. I encourage you to check it out!
